The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is an integral part of our programme at Fieldstone. Each year, approximately twenty FKCS students earn their Bronze Award – a result of their hard work volunteering in our community, developing their skills, staying active, and taking part in an unforgettable camping trip.
The Award programme helps young people across the world to become well-rounded global citizens, and thus aligns perfectly with our school goals. Students benefit tremendously from their involvement with the programme, and earning this prestigious award helps them to successfully and confidently apply to post-secondary institutions.
Last Thursday, Ms. Long (Award achiever herself), participated in a ski fundraising event with two of Award participants. Through the event, our students met Award alumni, gained an understanding of the scope of the Award, and enjoyed a beautiful day of skiing in the sunshine! It was a valuable and rewarding experience for all involved.
